Rail tickets, food and wine, compared to food in the bigger cities in the US, will not take up much of your wallet room.  But getting a cheap hotel in France is still a good idea too unless you want pay for the lap of luxury.  The real attraction of France, and especially Paris, is being outside and exploring the exotic cities and visiting the many famous museums and all other beautiful places.

You may not find a lot of cheap hotels in France. It’s in the central part of Cannes and you can get to pretty much anything you like there.  Being in France is all about what you can see –the city life, the architecture, the museums, the tours.  Tours are definitely recommended so you can see as much as possible.
