Flags of Arizona

Arizona flag has a design that comprises of four colors namely: yellow, red, copper and blue. Arizona flag is divided into half horizontally. The upper horizontal part consists of thirteen sun rays which has an alternating colors of red and yellow stripes. The alternating colored sun rays starts and ends with a red stripe. The upper half of the star which has five points in it is located in the center of the upper horizontal part of the flag. The lower horizontal part has the color blue on it with the the lower half of the star right on the center.

The colors yellow and blue are of Arizona's origin while yellow and red are of those of the Spanish people who conquered Arizona in the year of 1540. The thirteen rays represent the United States' original thirteen colonies. The rays also symbolizes the sun that sets in the west. In the United States, the largest producer when it comes to copper is Arizona and thus represented with a copper star on the flag. It was on February 14, 1912 that Arizona gained its statehood. The flag was originally adopted on February 27, 1917. The designer of Arizona flag was Charles Harris.
