The flag of Belarus is composed of only three colors namely: white, green and red. The flag has three sections: two horizontals and one vertical portion. The red stripe which accumulates larger portion is placed on top of the green stripe. There is a white stripe located at on the left side, next to it is a border in red color with a diamond ornaments design which is traditionally a pattern used in Belarusia.
The red stripe which comprises the larger portion of the flag signifies blood of the brave defenders and past of Belarus. The green stripe represents the future. The color green is associated with hope, revival, spring as well as the lands, fields and forests of Belarus. The decorative pattern of red with diamond ornaments on it symbolizes the country's cultural heritage, unity, and spiritual continuity. |
