The Belgium flag consists of three colors: red, yellow and red. It has a simple design that is composed of three stripes of equal size. The left side is a black stripe, to the center is yellow and the right side is red.
The three colors that can be found on the flag are based in relation to the province of Brabant's coat of arms. The vertical design of the flag of Belgium is influenced by France design on its own flag.
In 1830, Belgium gained independence from Netherlands. Right after Belgium’s independence, months later, and Belgium flag was officially adopted on January 23, 1831. |
