Flags of Belgium

The Belgium flag consists of three colors: red, yellow and red. It has a simple design that is composed of three stripes of equal size. The left side is a black stripe, to the center is yellow and the right side is red. The three colors that can be found on the flag are based in relation to the province of Brabant's coat of arms. The vertical design of the flag of Belgium is influenced by France design on its own flag. In 1830, Belgium gained independence from Netherlands. Right after Belgium’s independence, months later, and Belgium flag was officially adopted on January 23, 1831.

The flag of Belgium originally was in horizontal stripes but now the flag was modified into vertical stripes. The Belgium flag has a similarity to the flag of Germany. The design was influenced by France flag and the colors black, yellow and red were based on the colors in relation to the Duchy of Brabant. The revolution that the Belgians made against the Dutch, there was an establishment of civil guard that used the Brabant colors. According to Article 193 of Belgium's constitution that defines the nation as in red, yellow and black but these colors were not in the same order as it appears on the current flag.
