Brunei
The flag of Brunei is accepted on 29 September 1959. The flag of Brunei in his today's appearance, eliminating the coat of arms, was in the use since 1906, when Brunei was under the protectorate of England. The colours were transfer from the flags of main participants of signing of Agreement between Brunei and United Kingdom.
Brunei took a right for own flag, but it can raise it up only next to Britannic. The coat of arms was added on the flag of Brunei in 1959. A mast and pedestal are three levels of the power, and the bird plumage symbolizes justice, calmness, peace and prosperity.
Hands mean that the government protects and increases the welfare of the citizens. Half moon symbolizes the official religion - an Islam. On the flag of Brunei the motto of country is written of Arabic, and on a strip - the name of the country. Brunei is the state in Southeast Asia, located on the island of Borneo, and it is named also the Brunei sultanate.
In is the north it is washed by the waters of the South-Chinese Sea; in the west, south and east it abuts with Malaysia, which dissects Brunei on two unconnected overland territories, almost enclaves of Malaysia. Brunei is close located to the important seaways, passing through the South-Chinese Sea, connecting Indian and Pacific Oceans. |
