Flags of
Ethiopia
Ethiopia is in the horn shape part of Africa. It’s neighboring countries are Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya and Sudan. It has to be noted that earthquakes are common in Ethiopia. Ethiopia is a land locked country, i.e it has no coastline. Most of the Ethiopian uplands have slope to the northwest, so the direction of large rivers is in direction of Nile.
The flag of Ethiopia is officially endorsed on 29 august 2001.The flag of Ethiopia can be pictorially described as it has four colors green, yellow, blue and red. The flag is divided in to three stripes horizontally. The orders of colors from top to bottom are green, yellow and red. The circle just overlaps the top and bottom bands.
The pentagram is made of five y-shapes, each rotated by an angle of 72 degrees. The colors used in the Ethiopian flag can be interpreted as red represents power and faith, yellow represents church, peace, natural wealth and love, green represents land and hope.
The colors can also be interpreted as green stands for fertility, yellow stands for religious freedom, red stands for sacrificed lives.Ethiopia has been for long been in crisis, where all crops in this fertile land were burned in the civil war leaving people starving and without food, this has led to wide poverty. |
