Ghana
Ghana is accepted in a 1966. The flag of the country is a flag with three isometric bars, placed horizontally. The overhead bar is of red colour, the middle – yellow, the below – green colour. The five-ended black star is placed in the centre of the yellow bar.
Accepted in 1966 the blood of those, who died in the fight for independence of the country symbolizes the red colour, yellow are the minerals of Ghana; the green colour means forest riches of the country. The black star is a symbol of hope for the independence of Africa. The colours of the Ghana’s flag are repeated by the state symbol of Ethiopia colours – the unique independent state on the territory of Africa.
Possibly, the black star passed to the flag of Ghana from the flag of steamship company «Black Star Line», participating in 1919-1922 in an action on the transportation of black colonists back in Africa (this action became a part of the public motion of the black population of America «Back, to Africa»).
The territory of Ghana is located in the subequatorial belt of the North hemisphere, in the area of savannah and rarely forests (the greater part of the country) and also of tropical forests. The banks are mainly low, flat, and sandy, with lagoons. A coastline is cut up poorly; the natural harbours are absent; there is permanent strong surf. |
