The state flag of Hungarian Folk Republic consists of red, white and green horizontal bars. The red colour symbolizes the blood of the Hungarian patriots, spilled in the fight for independence of Hungary.
The white colour is a symbol of moral cleanness and nobleness of ideals of the Hungarian people. The green colour is a symbol of hope for the best future of the country. The flag in its real appearance exists from 1957.
The national emblem of Hungarian Republic is representing a red-white-green shield, having the arched edges. The form of this shield corresponds with the national emblem – the coat of arms of Koshuta, therefore this shield is called to symbolize folk, national traditions of Hungary.
Approximately one fifth part of the population of all Hungary lives in Budapest (about 2,2 million people). Approximately the half of the habitants are catholics, the one third are protestants.
The lowest point of city is a river Danube (97 m above the sea level), and the highest is a mountain of Yanosh (529 m above the sea level). Budapest is separate on 23 districts and it is disposed on an area in 525,6 square kilometre. Pesht on an area is much more then Buda. |
