Illinois is the 21st state of the USA. It has been accepted in the structure of the state on 3 December 1818. The area of the state is approximately 58 thousand q. miles; its population is nearby 12,5 million people. On the flag of Illinois is represented the seal of the state with one of the symbols - a cardinal bird. The Illinois flag has been accepted in 1915. Other symbols of the state are: a flower - a violet, a tree - a white oak. The state has taken its name from one of Indian languages from the word "soldiers".

Illinois is a state with a developed economy. The industry includes mechanical engineering, an electric equipment, metalworking, chemical and the food-processing industry, transport and oil refining. In the agriculture: corn, soybeans, and wheat, animal industries are developed. Illinois is well known for the city of Chicago, here the river Mississippi flows, and also the 40-th president of the USA Ronald Wilson Reagan was born in this state. The capital of Illinois is a city of Springfield. The capital of Illinois is a governmental, commercial and cultural centre of the state. Other large cities are Chicago, Rockford, Aurora, Peoria and etc.
