Flags of
Indonesia
Indonesia is accepted in 1945. Flag of the country represents a canvas with two equal strips located horizontally. From above the red strip, and below – white strip is placed. The red colour is accepted in 1945 and it means a human blood (more widely - the corporal world), white colour symbolizes the spirit of the person.
The flag of Indonesia has in the basis the flag of the Majapahit Empire, which was settled down on Java Island in XIII-XV centuries. This flag had nine red and white strips. In 1922 in the Netherlands (which colony Indonesia was) the group of the Indonesian students has accepted bicoloured red-white flag as a symbol of their student's association. The strips on it were settled down vertically.
On the flag of students the head of the bull was represented also. In 1928 The National Party of Indonesia accepted this flag as a flag of the party, and a year later the white-red flag was used on the student's congress in Batavia (present Djakarta). In 1945 after the declaration of independence the white-red flag became the state symbol of Indonesia.
