Flags of Iraq

Iraq was formerly known as Ottom Empire. It was ruled by Britain during First World War. It was declared republic in 1958 although military strong men have ruled the country, the latest being Saddam Hussain. It’s neighboring sates are Iran and Kuwait. Iraq seized Kuwait, which was later freed by US-led coalition. The flag of Iraq has been engulfed by controversies. The flag of Iraq has not been officially adopted. The newer version of flag released was abandoned because of its colors and design. The flag of Iraq can be pictorially described as, red stands for courage and vigor, white represents peace and generosity, black represents the victories of Islam in the past, green represents the victories of Islam in the past, green itself is a symbol of Islam. There is an inscription on the center stripe saying “allahu akbar” (god is great). The three stars on the flag represents Iraq, Egypt and Syria representing their unity.

The flag is divided into three vertical stripes and the colors of the three stripes are red, white and black from top to bottom. Iraq is currently under American control till there is any valid leadership that can form Government, there is instability in the region and the after effects of the Iraq war have been felt everywhere.
