Kentucky
Kentucky is a state in the south of the USA. The official nickname of Kentucky is a Bluegrass State. The name of Kentucky occurs from the American Indian name of the same river about the meaning of which disagreements till now are kept. On one of the versions, expression is meant "Dark and bloody territory of hunting". The variants are "the Tomorrow's country ", "the Earth of meadows ", etc.
The flag of Kentucky presents the state’s seal in the centre of the dark blur background. The seal is unique, presented two friends turned one toward another – the first dressed in buskin, the other man in ordinary dress. Their hands are reached for the handshake. The seal also includes the state motto "United we stand, Divided we fall," and "Commonwealth of Kentucky" surrounds the sea.
The most significant rivers are Ohio and Tennessee. Often enough there are forms of a relief, cave systems are considered as the longest in the world. Among the major minerals of the state are coal, natural gas and oil. The industry of the state is concentrated along the river Ohio. The food, textile and tobacco industry, and also mechanical engineering, hire of ferrous metals, manufacture of hardware, vehicles, electronics, furniture are to the greatest degree developed. |
