Laos
The flag of Laos is composed of three colors namely: red, blue and white. It consists of three stripes. The red stripes are of the same length and size. These red stripes are located on top and bottom of the flag. The center is a blue stripe that is bigger in size to the red stripes. It has a white circle located at the center of the flag.
The red stripes of the flag signify the blood that was being shed by the people for the fight to gain independence. The blue stripe represents for the wealth of Laos and prosperity. The color white symbolizes justice and unity. There is another interpretation for the flag of Lao. The white circle signifies the full moon that which rises on the Mekong River which will run through and then alongside Laos' majority.
It was on December 2, 1975, that the Laotian flag was adopted. The flag of Laos was based on Lao Patriotic Front's flag. On June 19, 1949, Laos became independent from France. It was on 1975 that Laos’s communist administration was changed and the name of the country was then changed to Laos Democratic Republic. It was during that year that the flag was officially adopted. |
