Flags of Latvia

The Latvian flag is consists of two colors: white and maroon. There are two red stripes of the same length and size and there is a white stripe located at the center of the flag. It was Dr. Karlis Ulmanis, who was the last President of Latvia on 1940 that gave the meaning of the Latvian flag. In his statement, he said that the color white symbolizes for truth and right, trustworthiness and honor of the citizens as free people. The color maroon reminds the people of the blood which was being shed in the past.
