Lesotho
The flag of Lesotho is consists of the colors: white, light brown, blue and green. On the left side is a white stripe in diagonal form that comprises a bigger space compared to the other stripes. The white stripe contains an emblem in light brown.
It is an emblem of a traditional shield of the country which becomes part of Lesotho's coat of arms. The blue stripe is right on the center and the green stripe is located at the right side.
The current flag of Lesotho has maintained the original design of the previous Lesotho flag with the use of the national motto of Lesotho's coat of arms in English means "Peace-Rain-Plenty". The white stripe signifies peace, the blue color for water and rain. Green stripe represents for Lesotho's fertile agriculture land.
The shield represents the country's willingness to fight for independence.The flag of Lesotho was adopted in the year 1987. It was done right after coup done by the military. It had replaced the flag which was originally used as Lesotho flag right after gaining independence from Great Britain. |
