Flags of
Liberia
Liberia is a state on the south of Western Africa, washed by the Atlantic Ocean.
The name of the country came from the Latin “liber”, which means “free”, because the state was founded by the free-born and released Afro-Americans. So Liberia means in a translation "Exempt earth".
A city Monrovia, the modern capital of the state, was founded in 1822, when Americans began to build settlements for the exempt slaves. To this time the representatives of NorthAfrican nationalities, settling on these earths between XII and by XVI ages, inhabited Liberia.
The flag of the state correspond with the USA national flag. The same red and white strips are used in it. In the left upper corner there is a blue quadrate with a white star in it. The star is a symbol of the liberty, so important for each African country.
There is a base plain in the north. The climate of the country is equatorial. There are also deep short rivers (Mano, Loffa, Sent-Pol and other). Tropical forests with the valuable kind of trees are typical for Liberia. The National park Sapo and other forest reserves attracted tourists every year in this small African state. |
