Flags of Nebraska

With the Great Seal of Nebraska as the main feature, the flag of Nebraska mirrors the states natural riches and endowments, the most famous of which are the Rocky Mountains and the Missouri River. The state's main industries, farming and forging, is represented by the pictures of sheaves of wheat and a settler's cabin. Transportation, an established industry in the state, is aptly represented by the westbound train and steamboat. The motto of the State of Nebraska, "Equality before the Law," is prominently displayed on the top of the seal, bracketing the picture of the mountains. The whole seal is enclosed by a band with the words "Great Seal of the State of Nebraska, March 1st 1867. The date on the band indicates the date when Nebraska became the 37th state to join the union of the United States of America.

An interesting fact about the flag of Nebraska is that it is one of the last flags to be adopted. The flag of Nebraska was officially introduced in 1925 through a bill introduced by J. Lloyd McMaster. The design of the flag was described as "...a reproduction of the Great Seal of the State charged on the center of gold and silver on a field of national blue."
