Flags of Nevada

Nevada flag is a uniquely peaceful flag with blue background and the emblem stands only in the left hand side upper corner of the flag. Nevada is called the ‘Sagebrush State’ for the presence of sagebrush in the emblem on the flag of this state. Nevada flag makes the most to represent what the state stands for, its rich mineral wealth is depicted on the flag by presence of a five-pointed star in the middle of the emblem. The flag also mentions the name of the state ‘Nevada immediately under the white star. Under the star and the state name there are two sagebrushes criss crossing each other with flowers. Above the sagebrush is a yellow colored ribbon, which mentions when and how ‘Nevada’ was accepted as a state and was included in the United States of America, the yellow ribbon mentions ‘Battle Born.

The emblem uses the words ‘Battle Born’ because the state was formed during the American Civil War and accepted as the 36th state to join the USA. That Nevada is rich in mineral wealth was proven in the year 1859 when there were found famous large sized gold and silver mines in the state. Though the state was pronounced as an independent state in the year 1864, its flag did not come into official acceptance until the year 1929. Nevada too, like many other States throughout the world, selected its flag by conducting a flag competition and inviting entries from its citizens.
