Flags of
Niger
There are three colors used in the flag of Niger, orange, white and green, in same order, these colors are used to provide a specific meaning to the country, there is also an orange circle in the middle of the white stripe at the center.
There has been use of orange color in the center to show significance of the Sahara Desert, there is also the color white, which stands for purity of the country and the green color is for the River Niger which flows through the country.
Placing of orange circle in the flag too has a meaning, first meaning stands for sun and the other is that the country Niger is ready to defend itself at all costs. Niger flag and the Ivory Coast flag are similar in usage of color, however, how they differ is that the stripes are vertical and not horizontal. Niger too was ruled by France and the similarities show in the flag. Though the flag came into existence in the year 1959, the actual independence was gained in the year 1960. |
