Flags of North Dakota

North Dakota is present in the north of United States of America. Its neighbors are Canada, south Dakota, Minnesota, Montana. North Dakota is divided into three regions they are red river valley, drift plains, Great Plains. Red river, Missouri River and James River are the major rivers of the state. It is said that about half of North Dakota is covered by Great Plains, which are rich in mineral deposits.

The flag of North Dakota was endorsed on March 3, 1911. The flag can be pictorially described as, it has a blue background with an eagle spreading its wings in the center of the flag. It had a banner in its beak. The left claw of the eagle is shown grasping a sheaf of arrows. The right claw of the eagle is shown grasping olive branch showing three red berries. On the breast of the eagle a shield is present, the lower part of the shield has stripes in it, seven red and six black alternately. Beneath the eagle the words “NORTH DAKOTA” is imprinted. Over the eagles head a sun is depicted, which is radiating its rays, thirteen five cornered stars will be present between the eagles head and the sun. The flag must be identical in color, size to flag that has been carried by the first north Dakota infantry in Spanish American war.
