Flags of Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania flag consists of a blue back ground and the coat of arms of the state in the center. In the coat of arms there is an American eagle, which shows loyal to of the State with the country of USA. The shield in the flag of Pennsylvania is supported by two horses, a ship in the upper segment of the shield. Pennsylvania also is an agricultural state therefore, it depicts a plough in the middle, along with 3 wheat sheaves, both are important for depiction of fertility of soils in the state. The flag of Pennsylvania also gives importance to peace, therefore, an olive branch and cornstalk beneath the shield depict the thought line of the state.

The ship in the shield is represents commerce, which is of utmost importance for any state. Pennsylvania state motto is Virtue, Liberty and Independence is stated on a ribbon at the bottom of the flag. Though Pennsylvania flag actually came into existence in the year 1799 the flag was then modified to become the current flag in 1907. Pennsylvania is of utmost important because it was the second state which joined the Union and gained status of a state in the year 1787.
