The flag of Peru is composed of only two colors namely: red and white. The design of the flag is quite simple which is composed of three vertical stripes. These vertical stripes are of the same equal length and sizes. Starting on the left side is a red stripe, followed by white stripe and then red stripe.

Peru has another state flag that design of which is that it incorporated the shield which is used by the national coat of arms and placed right on the center of the flag.The meaning of the colors being used in the flag is quite simple. The color red which is being used of the two stripes symbolizes the blood being shed by the people in order to gain their freedom. As for the white stripe, it signifies peace.

On February 25, 1825, the flag of Peru was officially adopted. On July 28, 1821, Peru gained independence from her Spanish conquerors. It was by this time that a flag which had the design of having a red and white being set diagonally and which was divided into four equal sections. The modifications to the flag of Peru to red, white, and red stripe design in vertical on 1822 and formally adopted in 1825.
