Another symbolical use of colors is that the red is for depiction of blood shed occurred when Polish were fighting for their freedom. Poland is a peace loving nation and this is aptly symbolized by using color white in the flag of Poland.
The Polish celebrate 2nd of May as Flag day throughout Poland, however, this is not a public holiday, the event started to be celebrated from the year 2004.
Poland was a dependant state with Russia, until the year 1931, however though they had gained freedom it was again lost in 1939 when Russia invaded Poland and won, however, during the First World war, Poland again got freedom and formation of the Republic took place in 1947. However today same flag is in use, after formation of a proper government in the year 1989 when Poland became Republic of Poland. The current flag of Poland is the same one in use. |
