Flags of
Romania
Romania is located in the southeastern Europe. It’s neighboring countries are Bulgaria and Ukraine. It’s coastline is formed with black sea. The river Danube covers the whole of Romania. Romania’s boundaries are formed relatively recently. It has added Transylvania and Banat after the First World War.
The flag of Romania was first endorsed on December 27, 1989. Romania’s flag has been divided into three vertical stripes with colors blue, yellow and red in the same order from left to right. It should not be forgotten that Romania is the result of disintegration of Ottoman Empire.
The colors of the flag of Romania are inspired from the colors of Ottoman’s flag, red and blue were part of the ottoman’s province of Moldova. Similarly red and yellow were part of ottoman’s province of Wallachia’s flag. The flag as a symbol would represent the resistance of the people and their secret of survival.
The blue, red, yellow flags with vertical tri-bands are associated with three other countries, they are Moldova, Andorra, Chad. Romanians celebrate the national Flag Day every year since 1998. On the national flags day, the flags are hoisted on all the government buildings. |
