Flags of
Saudi Arabia
Just like all other Islamic countries, Saudi Arabia flag too, has the background in color green. However there are inscriptions in Urdu on the flag which are white in color, these inscriptions are in the center of the flag. Below the Urdu inscription there is also a sword in the color white on flag.
The Saudi Arabia flag has been used by the royal family after it won the geographical area of Saudi Arabia in 1903, till then the flag did not contain sword, however, the flag of Saudi Arabia was officially adopted by the country in the year 1973.
The Urdu inscription contains translated version in name of Allah ‘There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger’. This is why the flag is almost considered sacred, it is hoisted in a manner that is different than rest of the countries, this is because Urdu reads from right to left rather than from left to right.
However, there is no inscription or writing on the sword. The presence of sword on the flag of Saudi Arabia is only as a symbol of royal victory. Unlike other Islamic flags this flag can be hoisted vertically, however, the flag that can be hoisted vertically is modified so that the inscription stays as if on a horizontal flag. |
