Somalia is located in eastern Africa. It is commonly referred as horn of Africa as it resembles a rhinoceros’s horn on the map. Its coastline is formed by gulf of a den and Indian Ocean. It has a vast treasure of natural resources like uranium and largely unexploited resources of iron ore, tin, gypsum, bauxite. Its natural resources are recurring droughts and dust storms.

The flag of Somalia was officially adopted on 12 October 1954 and coat of arms was adopted on 10 October 1956. The flag of Somalia can be described as it has a light blue background with a five cornered star in the middle of the flag of Somalia. The light blue color is used in the honor of United Nations organization that had controlled the country until independence. The five corners of the star represent five branches of Somalis. The five pointed stars represents five previous colonial areas where Somali speaking people lived Mr. Mohammed Awale Liban has designed the flag of Somalia.
