South Korea is a state on the northeast of Asia, occupying south part of the Korean peninsula. In the north it abuts with the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea. On east it is washed by the Japanese sea, on the south and southeast — by the Korean channel, westering — by the Yellow sea. A few islands belong to its territory the largest from which are Chejudo, Chedo and Kojedo.
The national flag of South Korea is a white canvas. The emblem of the country is located in its center. The design of the flag symbolizes the principles of the east philosophy of "yin" and "yang". The white background symbolizis the space emptiness, shorelessness and in its center - in-yan, surrounded by trigrams. In-yan (a circle, parted on equal parts of S-curve: on the dark, womanish half (in') and light, masculine (yan); in the center of every half there is a little circle, painted in an opposite color) is a symbol, personifying by itself the unity of oppositions. |
