Flags of Sweden

Sweden flag consists of blue background and a yellow Scandinavian cross, there are also vertical stripe in the center which depict the cross but not exactly in the center. It is widely known that the Swedish flag was based on the Denmark flag, there is a blue background to the flag, and the coat of arms of this country has three crowns in the color yellow, there is also presence of a cross, which has unique likelihood to all the crosses on flags of the Scandinavian countries.

Though it would be difficult to mention the exact time and date when the Swedish flag came into existence, there is a proof in pictures where the army uses blue flag with a yellow cross, these pictures are from the 16th century. So the flag of the Sweden is one of the oldest flags in the world. King John III of Sweden made it mandatory in the year 1569 that all Swedish battle flags to put a cross in color yellow. When Sweden united Norway there was a representation on the flag depicting the Union, but the symbol or Union was removed as soon as the Union dissolved, therefore the current flag of Sweden came into being. Sweden flag is also one of the oldest flag still in existence in the world, is was adopted again after brief interruption in the year 1906.
