Flags of Switzerland

Switzerland is located in the central Europe. It is a tiny, land locked country. It’s neighboring countries are Austria, Liechtenstein, France, Italy and Germany. Switzerland is famous for its alps. There are four official languages in Switzerland German, French, Italian, and Romanish. The central plateau of Switzerland is very famous and known for its lakes and water bodies.

The flag of Switzerland was officially endorsed on December 12, 1889. the flag can be described as, it has a red background with a white cross in the middle of the flag. The whole idea of a white cross on the red field is inspired from the flag of Schwyz, which is one among the three original regions of the country. The cross on the red background is also inspired from the banner of Holy Roman Empire. Geometrically, the flag of Switzerland is unique from the rest of the flags of the world, as it is square and rest are rectangle. The meaning of the flag is, it represents freedom, honor and fidelity. It is also said that the flag of Switzerland even represents neutrality, democracy, peace and refuge.
