Syria is in the Southwestern part of Asia. Its neighboring countries are Lebanon and Turkey. Syria has a very vital importance because of its geographical location, so Syria is a country, which has become a point of transit trade. Its coastline is formed by Mediterranean Sea. Syria waterways are very important to its agricultural development. The longest and the most important river is Euphrates. Syria is an Islamic country where the whole population is Muslims. The flag was originally endorsed in 1958 and again it was re-endorsed on 30th March 1980. The flag is divided into three horizontal stripes. The colors used in the flag are red, white, black and green.

The top stripe is red in color, the middle stripe is white in color, and the bottom stripe is black in color There are two five cornered stars in green color in the middle stripe. The colors used in the flag can be interpreted as red represents the struggle and sacrifice for freedom, white represents peace, and black represents the colonial past.
