Uganda
Uganda is located in eastern Africa. Its neighboring countries are Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan and Tanzania. It is surrounded by three lakes namely, lake Edward, lake Albert, lake Victoria. It is landlocked, it has no coastline. Although the country is on the equator it is less hot than bordering countries due to altitude.
It’s natural resources are copper, cobalt, limestone, salt and arable land. The country is well watered with many rivers and lakes. The flag of Uganda has three colors in it namely yellow, black and red. The flag is divided into six stripes where the order of three colors is repeated twice to make six stripes.
The order of colors are black, yellow and red from top to bottom. A symbol of crested crane is imprinted on the flag. Black, yellow and red were the colors of Uganda people’s congress party. The flag was officially endorsed on the day of independence 9 October 1962. The three colors represent the people of Africa, sunshine and brotherhood. The crested crane symbolizes Uganda under British rule. |
