The flag of Vermont consists of a blue background in the center of the flag are the coat of arms of the state. The state coat of arms consists of green mountains (showing why the state is called Green Mountain state), a pine tree, wheat sheaves and a cow.

The Green Mountains in the shield are seen in the background. Vermont state is and agricultural state which is depicted rightly by the presence of cow and 3 wheat sheaves, this also is the standard emblem of the New England. During the battle of Plattsburgh, in the year 1814 the soldiers of Vermont wore similar pine sprigs on their heads, this is depicted by the crossed pine branches in the flag. The state's name and motto, Freedom and Unity too are included on the flag, at the bottom on a red ribbon. |
