Vietnam was a war raged country for a long time, this is shown on its falg, which happens to be red in color to depict the blood of warriors that gave their lives for freedom, the flag also consists of a star right in the middle of the Vietnam flag, it is yellow in color. The star is a five pointed star to acknowledge the presence of all types of people from all facades of life in building the country, these people are the youth, intellectuals, peasants, normal workers and soldiers.
Vietnam was ruled by the French, the country got its freedom in the year 1954. However, Vietnam was not always Socialist Republic of Vietnam there was a South Vietnam and the North Vietnam, however, both Vietnam unified and accepted the above name of the country. This happened in the year 1976. Since the current flag has been usage.
It was not just the French who rules Vietnam, it was ruled by many others including China and Japan. Though the flag was in use from 1940 it was used by the Liberation forces which were fighting for independence, earlier South Vietnam flag was yellow, which was the color of flag given to them by the Spanish. |
