Virginia
Virginia is located in the eastern America. It’s neighboring countries are west Virginia, Maryland, north Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky. It’s coastline is formed by Atlantic Ocean. The major rivers of Virginia are James River, Rappahannock River, Potomac River and Shenandoah River.
The flag of Virginia has a deep blue background with the seal of the state imprinted in the middle of the flag. The seal of the state shows a roman goddess Virtus imprinted who is dresses as an Amazon. The goddess Virtus in the flag represents the state of Virginia. The goddess in the seal has a spear in the right hand and a sword in the left hand, her foot is on the Tyranny, who has been defeated by her.
Tyranny is fallen down with a broken chain in one hand and scourge in other and his crown fallen near by. A phrase “Sic Semper Tyrannis” is written under the states seal, which means “Thus Always to Tyrants”. The flag of Virginia was endorsed in on Apr. 30, 1861. Virginia is the 10th state, which gained its statehood on June 25, 1788. it is one of the thirteen original states of united states of America. |
