It has Caucasus Mountains in the north and the rivers Arak and Kura flow to south and into the Caspian Sea as shown on maps of Azerbaijan.
The country has a vivid Muslim heritage and in fact is known as “Land of Flames” in Turkish. Oil has been used as a fuel for more than 2000 years in the country. It became a part of the Soviet Union in 1922 and became independent with other countries in 1991 at the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The country has been on the silk route. It was incorporated in many of the regional empires, with the Turkish Empire been the last one. Travel destinations in Azerbaijan are very few. In Baku, the national capital, you get to see almost 1000 year old minarets and mosques as well as some o the most modern buildings. There are many five star hotels for travelers as well.
There are many mud volcanoes and endless fires burning on the hills of Ramana. The country is full of surprises ad has many natural splendors that the visitors and the tourists can see. The tourism industry in Azerbaijan is still in a very nascent stage.
