Speaking about the history of Colorado, the prehistoric cliff dwellers the first to inhabit this region. They lived from A.D 1 to 1299 A. D. Since then many Native American groups lived in this region. Francisco Coronado explored Colorado in 1541. The area was named Colorado because of its red colored earth. United States purchased a major part of Colorado under the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 and the remaining by the Treaty of Hidalgo in 1848. Initially Colorado was a part of Nebraska, Utah, Kansas, and New Mexico Territories. However it became a separate territory joined the Union in 1876.
The state of Colorado provides numerous activities for its visitors comprising of skiing, hiking, hunting fishing and many more. This has in turn attracted numerous visitors to this state. As a result of which Colorado’s tourism industry is flourishing.
