Greece
The maps of Greece show that it is a country of Southeastern Europe and is situated at the intersection of Africa, Asia and Europe.
It borders Turkey and Albania on the east, and lies to the south of the Balkan Peninsula. The Aegean Sea is situated towards the south and east of mainland Greece. However, the country maps also show that on its west is situated the Ionian Sea.
During the 8th century BC, began the emergence of Greece since the Dark ages which is followed by the fall of Mycenaean civilization. By 1100 BC, a group of people known as Dorians occupied the place till the west coast. In about 500-336 BC, Greece was separated into small cities that have their surrounding countryside.
More than 16 million tourists visit Greece every year and this greatly contributes to the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the economy of the nation.
It also appeals considerably to the international visitors because of its Mediterranean coastline, relaxing beaches and rich history. It is one of the most preferred tourist destinations among the Chinese.
The tourism industry in Greece and its promotion is handled by the Greek Ministry of Tourism. The city of Athens is considered to be the favorite travel destination in Greece by visitors.
