Iraq was on the Silk route and was a focal point of many civilizations such as the Sumerian, Babylonian and Assymerian. It had trade links all over the world from the Roman Empire to the empires in India and South East Asia. Its borders have increased and shrunk in the maps of Iraq.
With the ongoing problems and conflicts that is been faced by Iraqis at the moment. There are no travel destinations in Iraq. Few people like aid workers and journalists are been given visas. This is the reason that there is no tourism industry in Iraq. Being a focal point on the Silk Route and part of great empires such as the Sumerian, Babylonian and Assymerian empires, the country has some of the most beautiful ruins.
What was once Mesopotamia is also known to have the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and Garden of Eden. The mighty Euphrates and Tigris flow trough Iraq and the scenic beauty are breath taking. It also has vast expanses of deserts.
