Israel as a country came into being in 1948 on land that was earlier known as Palestine.

It has a long coastline with Mediterranean Sea as the backdrop. To the East, it also has the Dead Sea. The Israeli map has changed as it now occupies the Golan Heights and some parts of Jordanian territory. The capital of Israel is Jerusalem, which is the birth city of three of major religions in the world. It’s a very holy city for Jews, Christians and the Muslims.It has a long ongoing guerilla war with the Palestinians and the Arab world.
Waves of Jewish immigration to the ‘Holy Land’ begun in 1880’s and gained momentum during the WWII, when Jews were especially persecuted. Because of its rich heritage, the travel destinations in Israel are plenty.
Israel has both the ancient and the modern. It has many splendid Synagogues, Churches and Mosques in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. It has many archeological sights of interest.
Visit the various museums where the Dead Sea Scrolls are kept or visit the numerous shrines.The modern Israeli state is as developed as the western nations. Industry and information are booming.
