In the eighteenth century the Marathas ascended the throne but by 1817 the colonialist British rulers took over completely. After the independence the state of Madhya Pradesh was created in 1956. Now we take a look at the map of Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh is right at the centre of India. The capital of this state having an area 443,446 sq.km and divided into 45 districts is Bhopal. In the year 2000 a part of Madhya Pradesh was separated to form the new state of Chattishgarh. The topography consists of river valleys and plateaus covered with lush forests.
