Amongst the various areas of North Dakota, as seen from the population map of North Dakota, the Red River Valley is the most densely populated area of the state.
Explored by the French in 1738, North Dakota was actually acquired by USA under the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. The state of North Dakota was actually carved out of the northern part of the Dakota Territory that comprised of the present day North Dakota, South Dakota, along with parts of Wyoming and Montana. The state was officially incorporated in the Union in the year 1889.
If one looks at the map of North Dakota, it becomes quite clear that the state is a rural area dominated by grasslands and is thus comparatively less explored by tourist. However, if explored, the state of North Dakota has lots to offer to its visitors. The state not only provides fun filled activities, but can also provide variety of other attractions. In order to boost up North Dakota’s tourism and to provide assistance to individuals and communities the North Dakota tourism division has come up with a variety of policies and programs in this regard.
