South Korea is also known as Republic of Korea. South Korean map depict North Korea as a separate country.

Scientists believe that Korea was inhabitated around 30,000 BC when the tribes from central and other parts of Asia moved to this peninsula. In the First century AD, the first kingdom of South Korea was formed known as Goguryeo.
It was invaded by Japan in the 16th century after which the Chinese conquered Korea. During WWII it was again occupied by Japan. Finally in 1953, Korea gained independence and the portion under Soviet Union became North Korea, while the portion under USA became South Korea.
Travel destination in South Korea is plenty. The country is an extremely mountainous region with 70% covered under mountains. The country is also green and wherever you travel, vast tracts are covered in green. It has a great mix and a balance of the modern and the old world. On the same street you will find night clubs and shops selling old spices.
There are more than 400 places of interest to visit in the country as the tourism industry in South Korea is very strong. The Buddhist temples and shrines are very beautiful and a must visit.
Though English is widely taught in school, most people don’t speak English. South Korea is also emerging is a major economic power house. LG and Samsung are some of the names which are known worldwide.
